The short version

Enzyme and Margins are local-first. Your working files live on your device unless you choose a feature that sends something elsewhere.

Margins connects to Google only when you ask it to. The Google connection is read-only: it can retrieve context from Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Google Docs, but it cannot send email or change your events, files, or documents.

When you connect Google

Margins uses Google Workspace data to build private, useful context for the work you direct it to do. Connecting an account is optional.

Margins requests read-only access. It does not send or delete email, create or change calendar events, or edit, move, share, or delete Drive files and Docs.

Technical scope disclosure

The current Google connection requests identity access through openid and userinfo.email, plus gmail.readonly, calendar.readonly, drive.readonly, and documents.readonly. Google shows these permissions before you approve the connection.

Storage

Google connection credentials are kept in local credential storage on your device. Retrieved and derived material is kept in your local Margins workspace. The current connection does not route your Google credentials or retrieved Workspace data through Enzyme Labs servers.

Agents and AI providers

A local agent may use this context when you ask it to do work. If that work uses an AI provider, relevant excerpts may be sent to the provider you selected under that provider’s terms. Simply connecting Google does not send your Workspace content to an AI provider.

Disconnect

Run margins disconnect google or revoke access from your Google Account to stop future access.

Delete

Disconnecting does not erase material already imported. Because those copies are local, you can delete them from your workspace whenever you choose.

No ads or sale

We do not sell Google Workspace data or use it for advertising. We do not use Google Workspace data to train Enzyme Labs models.

Other information

Website and hosted features

Our website and hosting providers may receive standard request information such as IP address, browser type, requested pages, and timestamps. If you create an account or use a hosted feature, we process the account, service, and billing-status information needed to provide it.

Local product data

Enzyme and Margins keep their working indexes and files locally by default. A feature that publishes, syncs, or calls a provider may send the material needed for that feature; the product will identify that path in context.

Google API Limited Use

A clear boundary

Enzyme Labs’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
